What is Tuition Assistance?

High Mowing School defines "tuition assistance" as a grant given to reduce the amount of tuition to be paid for the student in that school year. It is not offered for any other fees or charges incidental to the cost of the student's education. Tuition assistance is based on financial need.

How to Apply

Submit SSS Form: Parents submit a detailed financial statement to the National Association of Independent School's Student Service for Financial Aid. You may complete the form online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss, or request a form from the Admissions Office.

You will be asked for High Mowing School's SSS code number. It is 3878.

There are two forms: one for married parents and one for parents who are separated or divorced. When divorced or separated, both parents must complete and submit the SSS form.

The School and Student Service will analyze the information you submit, and will send their Report of Financial Need to High Mowing School's Tuition Assistance Committee.

Submit Tax Return: Parents are required to submit a notarized copy of their most recent Federal Income Return (all forms and schedules) directly to High Mowing School's Tuition Assistance Committee.

Meet the Deadline: All pieces of the tuition assistance application are due at High Mowing School by February 1. Please be aware that it takes the service three weeks to process SSS forms when submitted through the mail.  Turn-around is much quicker online.

How tuition assistance grants are made:

Application Reviewed:  The Tuition Assistance Committee reviews each application. The assets of both natural parents, if they are living, are considered before making any grant, and the school cannot be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for education expenses. If the custodial parent has remarried, the assets of the stepparent are considered.

The Tuition Assistance Committee uses the Report of Financial Need (RFN) as a guide. The RFN may say that a family needs more than High Mowing School can realistically grant. In that case, we make the best offer that we can and ask the family to explore all other options. High Mowing School's Director of Finance can offer suggestions for payment plans or loan possibilities.

Tuition assistance in subsequent years:

Re-Apply Yearly: Grants of tuition assistance for subsequent years are made on a yearly basis. Application must be made each year, and the grant is calculated using the most recent financial data.

Eligibility for Continued Assistance in Subsequent Years:

The student must maintain a good social and academic record.

Parents must be up to date with school accounts.
