Transferring to High Mowing

Do students successfully transfer to High Mowing from other educational settings?

Because High Mowing's curriculum is designed to meet the interests and abilities through a student's progressive stages of development, those who transfer to our school often comment on how smoothly they were able to make the transition.

Our faculty, staff and our students welcome new additions to the school community. Everyone wants new students to feel at home here - academically and socially. To this end, each student at High Mowing is assigned an advisor, who not only oversees his/her advisee's work in the classroom, but, with support from our whole faculty and staff, keeps abreast of the advisee's overall wellbeing.

What if a student has not previously attended a Waldorf school?

About 40% of the students at High Mowing School are new to Waldorf education when they come to High Mowing.  Students successfully matriculate from other independent schools, public schools and home-school settings.

Do new students have to wait until September to start?

High Mowing accepts students, in grades 9 through 11, at intervals throughout the year on a space-available basis.  New students are enrolled in the Senior year by exception, and only at the beginning of the school year.

What is the admissions process for transfer students?

The admissions process for transfer students is the same as for a student who applies at any other time of the year
