Short film/video making
23rd February to 27th March 2009
We will be learning the basics of film/video making to enable the participants to create uplifting films that re-affirm our relationship to life and the universe. The method will be learning through doing. From day one you will be immersed in the process of making videos, discovering along the way the craft of the short film maker - camera use and angles, editing, storyboarding, directing. We will uncover the stories around us, as well as create original material. We will also learn the process of publishing videos to the web.
As the process develops we will reflect on our work together. What are the moral responsibilities of the film/video maker? What does it mean to capture ‘living’ images, movements and sounds and freeze them in time? How can this media serve mankind?
The course can be taken as a single course or as a part of the “Art of Performance” year.
If you're thinking of signing up for the film/video course, we'd like to hear from you. Feel free to e-mail course leader John Swain who will answer your questions. If you sign up for the course, he'll get in touch with you. There will be a maximum of 15 students.
