You will become familiar with the equipment - video cameras, audio gear and lighting kits to be used for your productions - learning the basics of shooting and recording sound. Students will also participate in exercises in composition, lighting and observation, along with scheduling and project management.
The Gear
We are planning to shoot HD mini DV cameras and use wireless microphones including a shotgun mic. If you have some of your own gear, let us know and plan to bring it along.
Lighting gear will be minimal with soft lights, reflectors and practicals (ceiling lights and lamps) plus daylight.
You'll be working with a minimal crew and traveling light to get your story in a timely manner while leaving the smallest footprint.
Production and Post Production - Weeks Three, Four and Five
We will have a professional video editor join us to help you assemble your projects using Final Cut Pro editing software. If you have a computer with your own editing software bring it with you. If you know Photoshop, editing software or DVD authoring programs that would be another plus.
Your videos will ultimately be displayed on the Emerson College web site and you'll be given DVDs of your productions to take away.
