The programme consists of five modules, each of which can also be taken separately:
Finding the Performer Within - presence, being in the moment, playfulness, voice, ensemble;
Living Movement - poetry and music in motion;
Creating Character - Michael Chekhov's Approach to Acting
Music with a Purpose - discovering ways to tell the story with sound and rhythm, instruments and timing!
The Speaking Landscape - site specific performance project - telling the stories of the land.
The “Art of Performance” is a year of self exploration, empowerment and transformation that is open to anyone wanting to explore their creative potential through the performing arts. There is a strong emphasis on the students developing their own work as well as creating collaboratively with their fellow students. The life skills learnt can be applied in all walks of life regardless of profession.
All courses will be supplemented with classes in voice techniques, singing and movement, as well as visits to the theatre and special seminars.
Priority will be given to applications from those wishing to take the whole year course. Applications should be made through Emerson College
